July 11: Atlantic Melody
High-energy pop music of Guinea, with a group brought to you by Edward Souarez (Guinea), the best African trap-set drummer and vocalist this side of the Atlantic.

July 18: Andrew Oliver Kora Band
The Andrew Oliver Kora Band combines elements of jazz and traditional West African music to create a unique soul-stirring sound. In the wake of his 2007 tour of West Africa with the U.S. State Department’s Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad, pianist and composer Andrew Oliver was inspired to start the group which features Kane Mathis on the 21-string kora, a traditional harp from West Africa, Chad McCullough on trumpet, Brady Millard-Kish on bass, and Mark DiFlorio on drums.

July 25: Brazilian Music with Eduardo Mendonça
By popular request, Brazilian recording artist, vocalist, percussionist, guitarist, and composer Eduardo Mendonça returns to Hidmo to perform Bossa-Nova, MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), Brazilian standards and original tunes. Mendonça traces his lineage to a royal African family bearing the hereditary title of Mama-beka (“prophet of the royal court”). He has had the honor of performing for Pope John Paul II, former South Africa President Nelson Mandela, and the Dalai Lama, and was featured in Paul Simon’s 1991 music documentary, “Born at the Right Time.”
